Northwest Meets Midwest

Hi Gals!

I have a very special guest on The Rodeo Mrs. today – Shaley Ham, the creator of the West Desperado blog! Shaley is a western fashion influencer whose style is right up my alley. We decided to stir up some creativity by swapping some of our favorite accessories through the mail to create two fresh looks each for y’all. Make sure to check out her blog here, read on to see our outfits below!

West Desperado Accessories: Wild Rag & White Buffalo Ring

Andrea May 2017 (23 of 57) (1)My first outfit was completely built around this beautiful floral wild rag. I was obsessed with the beautiful lavender color with pink and rust accents. My mind immediately went to a rust colored suede jacket I picked up at Goodwill last week that I knew would make a knockout combination! I added a basic pink, pinstripe button down underneath to give some depth and add to the spring vibes. On the bottom half, I wore Ariat trouser jeans – I picked the trouser for it’s timeless classy vibe. I finished my look off with my custom cream American hat, green turquoise, white buffalo and a stitched leather clutch. This look has so many classic western elements while still being trendy, which I totally love!

West Desperado Accessories: Beaded Native Necklace & Painted Leather Cuff

Andrea May 2017 (20 of 57) (2)

I went in a completely different direction with this outfit, wanting to be laid back while still bright. I started with a black jumpsuit which I belted with a concho number. Drawing from the colors in the necklace, I pulled out a bright red wrap I picked up at the NFR awhile ago. I always knew this piece would come in handy during the winter but who knew it was the perfect layering piece for chilly summer nights? After adding the cuff, I realized I liked the contrast of buckskin leather against the black and red, leading me to my favorite envelope clutch featuring a Wyoming bucking horse. Overall, I would describe this look as bonfire chic – which, we here in the Midwest find quite practical, thank you!Andrea May 2017 (18 of 57)

The Rodeo Mrs. Accessories: Aztec Wild Rag – Native Cuff – Coral Ring

This southwestern inspired geo print wild rag was the primary inspiration behind this outfit. Lord knows I am not one to shy away from a good wild rag! I went for a fun summer look, pairing it with this fun fringe, cold-shoulder romper—the wild rag adds such a fun pop of color to a more basic look. To top it off, I added this red cluster ring, which also accented the tones in the Indian chief cuff.                                                             I’m ready to hit the bleachers and enjoy a good ol rodeo!

The Rodeo Mrs. Accessories: Pink Scarf – Leather Choker – Native Cuff

I feel like I flashed back to the 1950’s in this outfit! A 6”x 24” scarf has endless possibilities with how I can style it, and trust me when I say I tried every single way when coming up with this look. I love using scarfs and wild rags as headbands, especially for those warmer days. The rose bud twist at the base of my top knot added a fun decoration in the functional headband. The red leather choker accents the high neck jumpsuit. Again, I paired the Indian chief cuff and red cluster ring and turquoise inlay ring as subtle accents.

I hope y’all enjoyed our little collaboration and got some inspiration for yourself. Who knows, maybe digging in your friend’s closet is just the pick-me-up your wardrobe is looking for. Thanks again to Shaley for working with me on this collaboration and make sure to follow her blog, West Desperado as well!
